Enrolment

Enrolment

Process

Families who wish to enrol their child should collect an Enrolment pack from the school office and book an appointment to meet with the Principal, at least one month prior to their child's fifth birthday. This meeting is an opportunity for you to talk with the Principal and discuss your child's needs, interests and any concerns you may have about them starting school. Classroom visits will also be arranged at this time. You will need to bring the completed enrolment form, birth certificate, immunisation certificate and 'Getting to know your child' questionnaire when you meet with our Principal. Once the enrolment is complete your child will be ready to begin school when they turn five.

Birchwood School has adopted a Cohort Entry in 2021, therefore there will be two entry points per term, one on the first day of term and one at week six.

Visits

We aim for your child to visit their new class on five occasions before they start school, two morning visits, two afternoon visits and one full day visit. These will usually take place on a Tuesday and Thursday. Parents are welcome to stay for the visit but are also welcome to leave their child once they are confident they have settled.

New Entrant Parent Meeting

Once a term the Junior Team Leader holds a new entrant parent meeting. This is a time when we share information about the classroom programmes in Seaview, the new entrant hub, and how you can assist your child to transition positively into our school environment. Parents and extended family members are welcome to attend these meetings.
